Center/Program Highlights:

University of Miami Center for Therapeutic Innovation has several major foci. The first is target identification, small molecule discovery and development in a number of different diseases including addiction, alcoholism, Autism, cancer, Hurler Syndrome, and others. These targets are generally classical drug targets such as GPCRs, kinases and enzymes. The second major focus of the Center is on the development of oligonucleotide therapeutics. These oligos are being developed for better efficacy, half-life in vivo and for delivery to targets organs such as the brain. Oligo approaches are being utilized in diseases such as Alzheimer?s, Parkinson?s and diabetes. The third major focus of the center is the development of epigenetic targeting drugs. For example there are several small molecule inhibitors of histone modifying enzymes in development for cancer and inflammation.
