Center/Program Highlights:
The Centre for Collaborative Drug Research
is a multidisciplinary initiative bringing together the Faculties of Medicine
and Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, Canadas leading academic
institution and largest research entity, and the Centre for Addiction and
Mental Health, Canadas largest mental health hospital and research institute.
Located in the heart of Torontos Discovery
and Financial Districts, the CCDR is designed to spur networking, collaboration
and innovation in drug research.
The CCDR is actively involved in developing
new models for collaboration and innovation with the pharmaceutical industry
and other partners.
The Centre continues to develop mechanisms
of promoting collaboration as well as resource- and knowledge sharing across
research groups within the University of Toronto and the Toronto Academic
Health Sciences Network.
Current Programs include:
Neuroscience Catalyst: An innovative
collaboration between the University of Toronto through the Centre for
Collaborative Drug Research and Johnson & Johnson Innovation in partnership
with Janssen Inc., the Neuroscience Catalyst funds pre-competitive, early-stage
investigations that can progress to clinical treatments for mood disorders and
Alzheimers disease. The Neuroscience Catalyst was designed with the aim of
leveraging the collective skills and resources of academia and industry to
accelerate the pace of developing and bringing new neuroscience drugs to market
and providing treatments for major neuropsychiatric disorders.
