Betatrophin - a new target for diabetes therapies?
Date: 29 April 2013
Description:
Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Investigator and Harvard researcher Douglas Melton recently identified the hormone betatrophin which is implicated in the production of beta cells. Slow or inefficient beta cell production has been critical involvement in diabetes. It is the hope that further study of this hormone may lead to novel treatments for diabetic patients.
