Description:
This facility is dedicated to the analysis of gene expression at DNA, RNA and protein level, routinely performing a multitude of biochemical and molecular biology techniques using standard equipment for electrophoresis, western blot, northern bot, as well absorbance plate reader, and gel, membrane and X-ray film imaging (Chemidoc MP and XRS; Bio-Rad). It is also equipped with end-point (Bio-Rad and Thermo) and real time PCR (Applied Biosystems 7300 Real-Time PCR System) thermocyclers, and a Guava easycyte 5HT benchtop flow cytometer for high-throughput cell analysis in 96-well format. Additionally, there is a stopped-flow (HiTech Scientific) and two Patch-clamp setups (Axon Instruments), used for kinetic analyses of ion channel activity in cells. Fluorescence and bright field microscopes (Zeiss) with dedicated cameras (Leica) and acquisition software are available.
